Catheter Care
Catheter care is a complex care task on the MSA-1904 approved task list. Trained family caregivers provide daily catheter hygiene, bag drainage and changes, and monitoring for signs of infection or blockage.

- Perineal and catheter site cleaning
- Urinary drainage bag emptying and changes
- Leg bag and overnight bag management
- Monitoring urine output, color, and odor
- Catheter tubing positioning and securing
- Reporting signs of infection or blockage to nurse or physician

- Individuals with indwelling Foley catheters
- People who use external (condom) catheters
- Those with urinary retention or neurogenic bladder
- Seniors post-surgery requiring temporary catheterization
